When I read articles like this one, I'm immediately reminded of just how unclean and dangerous our water supply can be. Even though the Environmental Protection Agency says that water from your kitchen tap is safe to use, when you read about people dying because organisms got into their brains via neti pot usage, it really makes you wonder what their definition of "safe" is.
Even "safe" water may contain "acceptable" amounts of lead, arsenic, mercury, radioactive particles, and a long list of other poisons and organisms.
This tragedy illustrates once again why water distillation is so important in removing contaminants, bacteria, and other pathogenic organisms from your water, creating a truly safe water supply for you and your family.
Water distillation works by heating water until it boils and turns to steam. The boiling action kills bacteria and other pathogens, and as the steam rises, it leaves behind waste material, minerals, heavy metals, and other heavier contaminants. The steam is then cooled and returns to water. So essentially, distillation removes the water from the contaminants, rather than trying to remove the contaminants from the water.
For all reasons you would use water--drinking, cooking, nasal irrigation, etc.--I strongly urge you to use a water distiller to achieve the safest, cleanest water possible. Your health, even your life, could depend on it.
