Vitamins C and E keep you safe.
A large study done just this year found that taking a combination
of vitamin C and E supplements reduced the incidence of Alzheimers
disease by over 60%. This is great newsbut it isnt
new to my readers. As far back as 1999, I wrote about
this in ALTERNATIVES. People who followed my advice back then
have years of extra protection compared to people who are just
getting the news mainstream. So it goes.

new study points the finger at free radical molecules (read: natural
aging) as the cause of Alzheimers, the real culprit is a
process called glycation, as earlier research points out. Glycation
is caused by the large amounts of sugar in our modern diet. In
the brain, excess sugar combines with amino acids to produce a
kind of crusty sediment. This is the same process that causes
bread to crust during baking. Both processes are irreversible,
which is why Alzheimers is so difficult to treat.
Why is this important?
Because, while this new research attributes Alzheimers disease
to the normal aging process, the older research clearly shows
it is largely diet-related. And that means you have far more power
in protecting yourself from itif you know how.
Doctors continue
to stubbornly assert that taking vitamins is silly
and a waste of time. It will take many, many years (and dozens
of other studies like this one) before they change.
