What Causes Nausea?

There are, of course, countless circumstances that can lead to nausea and vomiting—from stomach bugs to food poisoning. The following factors, however, are probably some of the most common reasons behind recurring bouts of nausea:

  • Morning sickness during pregnancy
  • Motion sickness (typically movement of a car, boat, or plane)
  • Pain of any kind
  • Post-operative recovery
  • Inner ear infections or injury
  • Many drugs, including chemotherapy drugs, and radiation sickness
  • Psychological problems and phobias, such as fear of heights
