When
I'm in the outback, I often start my day with this "power
breakfast." Not only is it loaded with antioxidants (beta
carotene, vitamin C, etc.), it is also packed with active
enzymes that aid in digestion. It's the perfect energy drink
for traipsing around all day in a rainforest.
1 mango, peeled and pitted
2 oranges, peeled
1/2 papaya, seeded and sliced
1 banana, peeled |
| Wash produce. Juice the
mango, oranges and papaya. Pour juice into a blender,
add the banana and liquify. Serve. |

Here's a great recipe for improving your overall heart health.
1 cup tomatoes
1/2 cup mineral tonic water
3 tbsp raw onion (preferably sweet onion)
1/2 bunch parsley
1/2 cup celery with leaves
1 tsp granulated kelp
Pinches of powdered cayenne pepper and ginger root
1 cup ice cubes |
| Wash produce. Process
in juicer. Serve. |
The onion in this juice contains
sulfur compounds, which help to lower serum cholesterol and
tryglyceride levels. By doing so, they help to prevent hardening
of the arteries.
Parsley and celery are high
in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and iron. It
is this mineral-rich composition that helps to prevent cholesterol
build up on the artery walls of the heart.
Cayenne and ginger make the
red blood cells less sticky and assist the colon in eliminating
greater amounts of excess cholesterol. They also substantially
increase the circulation of blood throughout the body.
1 kiwi (peeled)
1 mango (peeled and pitted)
1/2 cantaloupe (rind removed)
1/2 cup strawberries |
| Wash ingredients. Process
in juicer. Serve. |
Packed with vitamin C, this
fruit juice replenishes the vitamins in your body. I'd recommend
drinking it at the first sign of a cold. For an added boost,
spoon in powdered vitamin C and liquid echinacea.
1 orange, peeled
1/2 pineapple with skin removed, sliced
1/2 cup strawberries
1 banana, peeled |
| Wash ingredients. Juice
the orange, pineapple and strawberries. Combine juice
with the banana and liquefy in a blender. |
This drink is rich in many nutrients
vital to the immune system. It is chock-full of flavonoids and
other nutrients that have immune boosting effects. The banana
increases the viscosity of the drink and allows for slower absorption
of the sugars, which is important when you have an active infection.

1 orange (skin removed)
1 banana (peel removed)
1/2 cantaloupe (rind removed) |
| Cut into small pieces.
Put orange and cantaloupe in juicer; puree banana in blender
and mix with juice. |
A healthful, filling, and tasty
fruit, bananas are a good source of potassium, folate, and
vitamins C and B6. Because the body quickly converts bananas
into energy, this is a great pre- or post-exercise drink.

1/2 cup carrots
1/3 cup celery
1 large romaine lettuce leaf
1/2 handful of cut escarole leaves
15 parsley sprigs
2 fresh peppermint leaves
1/2 cup spinach leaves
3/4 cup pineapple juice, chilled
3/4 cup apple juice, chilled
1-1/4 cups ice cubes |
| Wash ingredients. Process
in juicer. Serve over ice. |
This
recipe is an excellent source of beta-carotene and vitamins C
and E. It also contains folate, calcium, iron and potassium.

I'm often asked what fruits and vegetables I recommend for juicing.
I can name dozens, but carrots are always at the top of my list.
Carrot juice has a particular affinity
for the liver, and improving liver function is one of the most important
things that you can do to improve your overall health.
The spinach in this recipe is a
great source for the nutrient CoQ10, which is essential for producing
energy on the cellular level throughout your body.
Juice the following ingredients:
4-5 carrots (until you get 7 oz of juice)
3 sprigs of fresh parsley
1 large handful of spinach
1 large handful of kale
1/4 beet |
And
one just for the blender

| Blend the following ingredients
together until smooth and serve cold: |
|
1 cup of skim or soy
milk
¼-½ teaspoon cinnamon
3 ice cubes
2-3 tablespoons ground flaxseed
1-2 tablespoons lecithin
granules
2 level scoops vanilla or chocolate whey protein powder
½ ripe banana or 1 cup fresh fruit (mangoes,
strawberries, blueberries, cherries, peaches, etc.)
|
Lecithin helps support the role
of "good" HDL cholesterol levels in your bloodstream,
and promotes overall circulatory health.
The power shake I make for myself
every morning includes lecithin granules, along with other healthy
ingredients like flaxseed oil and whey.
The whey powder I recommend is called the Ultimate
Whey Designer Protein. It's available in healthfood stores, or you
may also order it directly from
