Learn more about diagnosing and treating diarrhea

Accurately diagnosing diarrhea is important. In general, you should be moving your bowels more than once a day, and ideally two to three times a day. After all, you eat three meals daily, and each meal creates its own waste products that need to be eliminated. However, any sudden increase in the amount or wateriness of your stool, or an increase in the frequency of your bowel movements to more than three per day indicates diarrhea.
