Is There Any Way to Reduce Sulfite Sensitivity?

Like many people I have a problem with foods treated with sulfites. Fortunately I don't experience asthma attacks or breathing problems like some, but I do get severe headaches. I try to avoid sulfite-containing foods, but do you know of anything I can do that will reduce my sensitivity when I accidentally ingest sulfites?

Taking vitamins C and B12 can help reduce sensitivity to sulfites.

High dosages of vitamin B12 are necessary to be effective. Recommended amounts are up to 2 mg a day. (Yes, this is milligrams and not micrograms.)

Recommended daily dosages of vitamin C vary from 1 to 4 grams (1,000–4,000 mg). When taking this amount of vitamin C, it may be necessary to take small amounts several times a day. Taking it all at once may cause diarrhea in some people.
