Besides Breathing Exercises, What Can I Do for Emphysema?

I have been diagnosed as having mild emphysema, and I have a difficult time exhaling. I am on breathing exercises, but is there anything else I can do?

With emphysema, the damage to the lungs has already been done and to date I know of nothing to rebuild the damaged tissue. What you can do is strengthen the good tissue and this is best done by blowing up balloons. This may be difficult at first, but as your diaphragm and lungs build up, it will get easier.

A side benefit of this exercise is that it will strengthen the cheek and lip muscles for a “younger looking” face.
