I have written about and been a huge fan of turmeric for years. It is one of the only herbs I know of that can singlehandedly address some of today's greatest health threats, including arthritis, asthma, cardiovascular disease, hepatitis, gallbladder problems and lung cancer from smoking and other pollutants.
I recommend about a heaping tablespoon of turmeric a day. Some people eat it straight, but you can also try sprinkling it on potatoes, mixing it with tuna fish, or using it to spice up meat-based dishes.
If you'd rather take the spice in supplement form, I recommend 200 milligrams of turmeric daily for maintenance purposes. Look for a product that has been standardized to provide a consistent level of curcumin.
The only reason I can imagine why turmeric is so blatantly overlooked in this country is because it is so inexpensive. No one, thus far, has figured out a way to make any money selling this herb. It is, without a doubt, one of the biggest bargains in food supplements today. If you haven't included turmeric in your daily supplement program, I urge you to start immediately.
Now it's your turn: How has taking turmeric improved your health?
